TechSpy ("we", "our", or "us") operates techspy.pro. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.
1. Information We Collect
Account data: When you register, we collect your email address and a hashed password. We do not store plaintext passwords.
Usage data: We log search queries (technology filters used), export history (filter and site count), and page views. This data is used to enforce plan limits and improve the service.
Payment data: Billing is handled by LemonSqueezy. We receive subscription status and plan identifiers from their webhooks but do not store credit card numbers or full payment details.
Cookies: We use a single session cookie (HttpOnly, Secure) for authentication. We also load Google Analytics (GA4) which sets its own cookies for usage analytics.
Crawled data: TechSpy crawls publicly accessible websites to detect technology stacks. We collect domain names, HTTP headers, publicly visible HTML, and contact information (email addresses, LinkedIn URLs) from public pages such as /contact and /about. We do not crawl authenticated or private pages.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide and operate the TechSpy service
- To enforce plan limits (preview results, export quotas)
- To process subscription payments via LemonSqueezy
- To send transactional emails (account confirmation, billing receipts)
- To improve detection accuracy and site coverage
- To analyze usage patterns via Google Analytics
3. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with:
- LemonSqueezy — payment processing and subscription management
- Google Analytics — anonymous usage analytics (IP anonymized)
- Cloud infrastructure providers — hosting on Hetzner Cloud (EU) and Hetzner (US)
We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our legal rights.
4. Data Retention
Account data is retained for the lifetime of your account. Export logs are retained for 13 months. You may request deletion of your account and associated data by emailing privacy@techspy.pro.
5. Crawled Data and Third-Party Sites
TechSpy indexes publicly available information about websites. If you are a website owner and wish to have your site removed from our index, please contact us at privacy@techspy.pro with the domain name. We will process removal requests within 30 days.
6. Your Rights (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate personal data
- Request deletion of your personal data
- Object to processing or request restriction
- Data portability (export of your account data)

7. Cookies and Tracking
We use the following cookies:
- techspy_session — authentication session (HttpOnly, Secure, SameSite=Lax). Essential for login functionality.
- Google Analytics (_ga, _gid) — anonymous usage analytics. You can opt out via Google's opt-out tool.
8. Security
We use industry-standard security practices: HTTPS/TLS for all connections, bcrypt password hashing, HttpOnly/Secure session cookies, and regular security updates. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.
9. Children's Privacy
TechSpy is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email to registered users or a notice on the site. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
